Designing quieter heat exchangers
Customer needs
Identify the most important heat exchanger components in terms of noise. Confirm, by testing, that the characteristics of the selected components significantly reduce the level of the noise emitted by the heat exchangers used to cool hydraulic systems.
Customer benefits
With its expertise in acoustics and multiphysics, Cetim can provide methodological support, carry out measurements in accordance with standardised procedures, analyse the results and issue recommendations so as to select ventilation components making it possible to reduce the noise level of the heat exchangers while preserving their cooling performance.
Cetim answer
The methodological help provided and the analysis of the values measured on heat exchangers during the tests, allowed Cetim to identify the operating parameters and the characteristics of the most important components in terms of noise and to assist its customer in its quiet design process.
Delivered results
Parker Hannifin designed heat exchangers by defining the important components (type of fan, quantity and shape of the fan blades, air flow, characteristics of the matrix, etc.) so as to reduce the noise levels and comply with the acoustic specifications. Acoustic tests then confirmed that the choices made helped to reduce the noise emitted by the heat exchangers while preserving their cooling performance.
