Qualify the performance of the seat coverings
Needs
Aircrafts and Launchers of tomorrow – Green Aircrafts + 4.0
Solution
Innovative design for the Green Aircraft
Customer needs
The quality and appearance of the seats that equip aircraft is a major concern for aircraft manufacturers. In this context, Safran Seats wanted to qualify the wear resistance of its seat coverings and to have a reference system to assess the wear resistance of the painted cover on aircraft seats.
Customer benefits
Safran has benefited from Cetim’s multi-skilled expertise: materials, tribology, treatment and coating
Cetim answer
From painted samples, three test procedures has been defined on different materials (aluminium, composite and plastic):
Impact tests, abrasion tests and friction tests
Delivered results
The qualitative (visual observation) and quantitative (by weighing and 3D profilometry) results obtained made it possible to classify the materials according to their behaviour under different stresses: Wear, impact and abrasion
